Randonee skiing to Søre Hartevassnuten

Søre Hartevassnuten is the most accessible summit in the Hovden area, and might be a good starting point for beginners. It is also suitable for experienced skiers, becoming more challenging the farther south you get. The best skiing is from the treeline and down, and the pass from the summit provides the best line. The terrain through the forest offers some natural jumps.

The entry point is the Hegni recreation area. From here you just follow the pass upwards, and when you get above the treeline, aim for the summit and approach it diagonally. On your way up you should look for some good backcountry lines.

Søre Hartevassnuten is a fine alternative in harsh weather as the trees provide shelter. The vegetation also preserves the fresh snow, giving good opportunities for powder skiing.
Please note that some parts of this mountain may pose an avalanche risk.
