Randonee skiing in Sondrelåmi, Valle

Follow the tracks to the ski pioneer Sondre Nordheim from Morgedal while he lived in Valle.

In 2017 a so-called “låm” (ski trail, piste) was cleared, based on descriptions of where the Norwegian ski pioneer Sondre Norheim went skiing during the time he lived in Valle. It is three kilometres long, has a vertical drop of 800 metres and is located in the mountains near Tveitebø, north of central Valle.
Park your car at Tveitebø. Follow the mountain road until you reach Bispevegen (the Bishop’s trail) after the first left-hand turn. Continue on Bispevegen until you reach the logging patch. Follow the tractor road to the newest patch. This is where the actual trail starts.

To get to the top, you have to follow Bispevegen to avoid hazardous terrain. The adjacent mountains Vrålskred and Konungsnatten are steep enough to pose an avalanche risk. During high-risk conditions the couloir may take a hit, and this section should therefore be avoided.

Leave the couloir at the spot where it meets Bispevegen. From there the descent is fun and uncomplicated, also for beginners, provided the snow is deep enough. Less snow means greater challenges.
