Hovdenuten and the day hike cabin – round trip 4 km
Summit hike or round trip – now with Sherpa steps! Regardless, you get a great view in all directions from Hovdenuten, 1119 meters above sea level.
This is a great family hike, manageable for children aged 5 and upwards. From central Hovden, you walk to the cabin area Hovden Fjellpark. In the lower part of this cabin area, the 4-km round trip starts and ends. The trail to Hovdenuten is as steep as it has always been, but with steps and stone paving, accessibility has improved.
At the summit viewpoint, there is a map and a guestbook. This is also where the spectacular day hike cabin is situated. This is a nice place to take a picnic break and enjoy the splendid views. Note: The cabin is normally open from June to early November.
From the top, the round trip continues on a marked trail that goes down Breiveskaret and further to the cabin area Hovden Fjellpark. In this part of the hike, there are some loose stones and some wet marsh areas, and solid footwear is recommended.
Please note that there is no parking available in the cabin area Hovden Fjellpark, so if you arrive by car, you must park in a public parking lot, for example, in the center. Alternatively, at Hovden Alpine Center (paid parking).
