Orienteering in Hovden summer 2026
This summer, there are checkpoints to find in the forest. Can you navigate your way using a map and compass?
There are four orienteering courses in total: two at Hegni (by the lake Hartevatn) and two near Hovden Fjellbad. The courses range from 1.1 km to 3.3 km.
Maps can be purchased at Hovden Fjellbad. Payment is made using Vipps or MobilePay, which is available to users from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The price is NOK 30 per map, or NOK 100 for all four maps.
The courses are available until 30 September. The two shortest courses are also the easiest.
Courses at Hegni
The two courses at Hegni use maps with a scale of 1:7,000, meaning that 1 cm on the map equals 70 metres in the terrain. The contour interval is 5 metres, meaning that the difference in elevation between each contour line is 5 metres. The controls in the forest are small and measure 15 × 15 cm.
The start and finish are at the same location, 600 metres into the forest east of Hegni. Follow the hiking trail until you reach the crossing where you cross the stream for the third time.
