Søre Hartevassnuten – round trip 6 km

Along Hartevatn lie the Hartevassnutane, which are several prominent mountain peaks. Søre Hartevassnuten is the highest at 1155 meters above sea level.

The hike to Søre Hartevassnuten is challenging, with an ascent all the way up, and a large scree on the backside of the mountain. Children and dogs may have difficulty crossing this scree without assistance. Additionally, there is an almost vertical mountainside to the east, and if you have children with you, they must be closely supervised.

The first kilometer of the trail follows the stream and goes up through the birch forest, but the terrain becomes more and more open, and you eventually reach the bare mountain. From the top, there is a beautiful view of the mountain areas around Hovden. Søre Hartevassnuten is marked as a loop trail at the top, before the return follows the same path down through the birch forest. The hike can also be combined with Nordre Hartevassnuten, ending up in the Hartevassnuten cabin area.
