The Viking Walk – 3 km
The Viking Walk starts on the pier at the Hegni outdoor area and gives you an insight into local history, culture and wildlife.
Start by the pier by the sculpture. This is Bykle municipality's millennium site, and it contains an interesting discovery from the iron extraction. Further along the path, there are visible traces of the past – such as iron production remain and charcoal pits.
Signposts provide information about these, as well as other historical facts about Hovden in ancient and more recent times. The path runs along the Otra river and is 3 km long.
To get back to Hegni again, you may use the pedestrian/bicycle lane that runs from the traffic roundabout and via central Hovden, making it a round trip.
