Hegni

Welcome to Hegni 2026 – A Great Place to Be
Hegni is a pleasant and family-friendly outdoor recreation area, perfect for visitors of all ages who want to enjoy activities or simply spend the summer in beautiful surroundings. Here you will find a small, inviting beach, a playground for younger children, a skate ramp, a beach volleyball court and a disc golf course.

Hegni is also a great starting point for a variety of walking and cycling trips. The area is home to the Museum of Iron Production, and a visit can easily be combined with a walk or cycle ride along the Viking Walk, which starts at the pier at Hegni. Perfect for anyone interested in learning more about the Viking Age in Hovden, with a particular focus on iron production, as well as a few other aspects of local history.

If you enjoy fishing, there are excellent opportunities in Lake Hartevatn. Fishing permits can be purchased here.

This summer, the kiosk is open daily from June 19 to August 16, between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Once again, the kiosk is operated by Bykle Municipality with the help of local young people. Ice cream, hot dogs, soft drinks and coffee are available – just what you need on a sunny day.

Hegni also offers rental of rowing boats, canoes, SUP boards and pedal boats for those who want to get out on the water, as well as campervan parking with space for up to seven vehicles. Whether you want to swim, play, fish or simply relax, Hegni is a great place to be.

Please note that the kiosk may be closed on days with bad weather.
