Hovdenuten – round trip 4 km
Summit hike or round trip – now with Sherpa steps! Regardless, you get a great view in all directions from Hovdenuten, 1119 meters above sea level.
This is a great family hike, and children from 5 years old can manage it. The hike starts in Hovden center and goes to the cabin area Hovden Fjellpark. At the bottom of the cabin area, the round trip starts, which is considered to be a total of four kilometers from there. The trail to Hovdenuten is as steep as it has always been, but with steps and stone paving, accessibility has improved.
At the viewpoint at the top, there is a map and a mailbox with a guestbook. Here is also the new day trip cabin. This is a nice place to take a break and look out over the mountain range. Note: The last opening day in 2024 was November 17.
From the top, the round trip continues on a marked trail that goes down Breiveskaret and further to the cabin area Hovden Fjellpark. In this part of the hike, there are some loose stones and some wet marsh areas, and solid footwear is recommended.
Please note that there is no parking available in the cabin area Hovden Fjellpark, so if you arrive by car, you must park in a public parking lot, for example, in the center. Alternatively, at Hovden Alpine Center (paid parking).
