Music follows us throughout life in joy and sorrow, in everyday moments and celebrations, through childhood, youth, adulthood and old age. Welcome to an opening concert full of variety, vitality and powerful emotion! The programme features lyrical and lively nystev, powerful gangar tunes and dance, heartfelt hymns, thought-provoking poetry by Paal-Helge Haugen, and much more from the UNESCO-listed folk music tradition of Setesdal. Director Sigrid Kjetilsdotter Jore has gathered a true constellation of local performers from across the Setesdal valley. More than 80 performers of all ages will present some of the very best that Setesdal folk music and life itself has to offer. In a special segment led by Kirsten Braaten Berg and Aasmund Nordstoga, the audience will also gain deeper insight into the legacy of Svein Hovden, one of the most important traditional folk music sources from Hovden.
