1. Take the chairlift to Storenos
The chairlift takes you up to 1,183 meters above sea level, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountains and Hovden village. From the top, you have access to great hiking opportunities in the high mountains, with both short loops and longer routes available. Old lift chairs from the former Vestheisen lift have been placed at the summit as seating – a charming spot to take a break and enjoy the view. 2. Hike to Hovdenuten and the Day Trip Cabin
The trail up to Hovdenuten (1,119 meters above sea level) features stone steps built by Sherpas, making the hike safe and sturdy. Near the summit, you'll find the day trip cabin – a modern structure with panoramic windows, seating, a wood-burning stove, and information about the local nature and surroundings. It's the perfect place to enjoy your packed lunch sheltered from the wind and weather, while taking in the views and learning a bit about the local plants and wildlife.
